2011 images of shorebirds and waders seen at Colyer Lake, PA

Observed at Colyer Lake on Saturday, August 6, 2011 was an American Avocet, and a mixed flock of shorebirds: Lesser Yellowlegs (greatest in number; approx 40), Pectoral Sandpiper (perhaps 10-15), Short-billed Dowitcher (3-5) and Stilt Sandpiper (3). In addition there was a Great Egret, Green Heron and Great Blue Heron present on the mudflats.
Shannon Thompson (Lancaster County)mentioned to me that an American Avocet had been reported at Conjehola Flats (August 5 or 6?) and another at the Octorara Reservoir (August 7).
