At approximately 3:00p.m. on April 26th 2009 Sterling MA. firefighters were dispatched to a reported barn fire at 102 Osgood Rd. A large column of black smoke in the sky could be seen from several miles away. Upon arrival firefighters encountered a 1.5 story garage/barn with attached shed fully involved in fire and threatening the main house several feet away. Many surrounding towns were called for assistance to provide a water supply due to a lack of fire hydrants in that section of the town. A second building at the rear of the original fire building that was used as a wood storage shed also become fully involved as well as several spot brush fires.
