This picture was taken by my sister Edna with her low-end Kodak digital camera somewhere in one of the villages in Oton town in Iloilo, Philippines.
In a layback lifestyle such as in this place, the slow pace of life attracts young and old to enjoy the beach and the afternoon sun. The panoramic low tide scene, the children playing with the adults gathering seaweeds and seashells or catching milkfish larvae is a delight to watch.
The seawater was still murky when the pictures were taken as evident of the past typhoon that ravaged the coastal towns of Iloilo and Antique.
The after-the-typhoon occurrence, however, provides an extra livelihood to these local folks to augment their meager income. The start of monsoon season also signals the start milkfish-and-lobster-larvae-gathering season. With the aid of their somewhat primitive mini-trawlers, these town folks catch the milkfish/lobster offspring and sell their hard-earn labor to enterprising milkfish and lobster breeders…
And life goes in circle in this little town
