The West Fork of Oak Creek Canyon is located about 10 miles north of Sedona off Highway 89A. I had hoped to catpture a lot of fall color on this trip, so I was a bit disappointed in the scarcity of Oaks and Maples in this canyon. However, the trip was well worth it as the hike is easy and the scenery beautiful.
The temperatures in early November are moderate (65-75 F) and the trail is predominantly shaded by the high cliffs and Ponderosa Pines. We went mid-week and avoided the crowds, arriving at 10:30 AM. Parking is limited, so the trail itself is never "crowded", but on the weekend you may have trouble entering the area. There is a $7 parking fee, but if this is the only area you visit, you will not need a Red Rock Pass.
I added some maps in this gallery to help give a better a feel for the terrain of the area.
