The tree within

Cuivre River State Park, Missouri

I came across this old abandon Silo in the middle of the forest away quite away from the nearest trail. I was quite surprised to see a tree growing in the center. This area was abused farm land in 1934, then became a recreation demonstration area by the national park service, before eventually being given to Missouri as Cuivre River State Park. I suspect this silo is from the 1930's and the forest grew up around and in it.

Wonderful find Earl. A great photographer never stops looking around a sight for the unique shot and that is exactly what you did.

Earl, I have no real knowledge of why the tree is inside the silo, though I suspect it is natural. Interestingly there didn't seem to be a concrete floor in the silo, thus allowing the tree to grow.

Cool find. Do you know: was the tree deliberately planted there after the silo stopped being useful, or it just a natural happening?
