Mina Sauk Falls

Taum Sauk Mountain State Park, Missouri

Love those red granite rocks. These falls are on Missouri highest mountain which is called Taum Sauk Mountain. It is said to be named after a Piankeshaw Indian chief names Sauk-Ton-Qua.
The legend goes that the Falls are named after the chief's daughter, who though herself off the mountain to her death after her lover was killed.

The image was quite a production, it is a panorama stitched together from three angles, each with 6 exposures to capture details in both the sky with the sun and the falls themselves.
