C88 /Eclipse of the moon/August 2007

A red moon Tuesday night. The earth's shadow began to cross the moon
at 6:51 P.M. but as I was at yoga, I and didn't get home til about
7:30. In any case as the total eclipse didn't happen until 7:52, I had
plenty of time to set up the trusty tripod and photograph that unusual
event. It's quite a challenge when you only have a 6X telephoto. The
moon remains a very small part of the total image. The auto focus also
causes problems on an black empty sky as the auto focus has not object
to bounce data from. But that's the fun of it all.

Light passing through the earth's atmosphere turned the moon an
amazing red orb. It was a cloudless night.The phases in-between were
heavenly spectacles as well. What a sight!.

Most people barely gave this phenomenon a passing glance. Life went on
as usual. Millions starved, other millions killed one another,
millions more were born and passed away during this lunar moment as
the world just keeps on turning at a precise time for eternities to
come. So the moon returned to its normal exactly at 9:23 P.M.
