From the Summer of 1890 to the Winter of 1891 French Impressionist
Claude Monet painted 25 versions of one haystack; each time the light
changed he would pick up another blank canvas. He exhibited 15 of
these at Durand-Ruel's Gallery. Monet pursued this concept for at
least two more years with his series of 20 impressions of the changing
light on the facade of Rouen Cathedral.

Inspired by this pursuit of changing light, I have aimed my camera at
two eulcalptus trees some distance away from my balcony. Below is a
collection of twelve that I have complied over time. I failed to
capture a worthwhile image during a lightning storm, as that required a
special technique I still have to learn. While the individual images
have their own personality and appeal, I think they acquire some
magical element when viewed as a series; and assembled together, fused
as one, as I had done with my landscape paintings for many years now,
the composite exudes it's own spiritual sense of place.
