C69 Inner Sanctum

Every flower harbours an inner sanctum. In full view, from the outside, a flower may show off its full external splendor to you; and carried away by its spectacular form and color, you may think that's all there is to it. But there is an inner court in that flower, one that beckons to bees and other pollinating insects.

The American artist Georgia O'keefe explored this part of a blossom in some of her paintings and in the process revealed erotic sensibilities. Examine a flower more closely, and you will see fascinating shapes and colors within its outer dress. If you zero in, you may see at times flowers within these flower, and even more flowers within those flowers.

My camera's macro lens delights in probing these not so secret chambers. Not being a scientist, my curiosity takes me there as an artist to search for aesthetic shapes, forms and colors. The inner sanctum of a blossom is like the sacred chamber of your mind: in order to house your dreams it must be landscaped in magical colors and decorated with surreal forms.Site Meter
