Given his happy —somewhat mocking— loud and racuous, laugh, the kookaburra is dinky-di Australian. From the kingfisher family, this bird feeds on lizards, snakes and insects. It likes to hang around people's backyards for a feed of meat scraps. They socialize in small gangs and take topmost spots such as TV antennas to survey the neighborhood. The instant they observe me or Irene in the balcony and I raise my hand, they come over to say hello.
