The Ruby Throated Hummers gorgeous red gorget looks like a multi-layered necklace of glowing red sequins when the light catches it. This is a mature male Ruby. His feathers all all fluffed out, which gives him an appearance of being plumb, when he is actually very sleek and thin. He has encountered a very cold, heavy, windy afternoon rain storm and is resting on the top of a chairback, which offers him a steady resting perch while he dries out.
