This is Joey, around 1 ½ years old, the newest member of family. He was found in our backyard under a tree, meowing his head off to get attention. He was abandoned by his mother at about four weeks---why, we don’t know. He was healthy, with no physical signs that would make a mother abandon him. We took him in the house and started feeding him replacement milk out of a tiny bottle until he learned to lap milk out of a small bowl. He graduated to small portions on canned kitty food. When we attempted to introduce him to dry cat food, he thought it was cat litter and used it as his personal litter box. To this day, he still will not eat dry food even when he sees the other cats eating, he isn’t curious enough to want to give it a try. He is particular about his canned food – unlike the other cats that eat all flavors of the small cans of Fancy Feast, Joey will only eat the more expensive flavors of Fancy Feast “Elegant Melody” which costs 74 cents a can. You can’t fool him by substituting the less expensive Fancy Feast variety. He will give it a sniff and then walk away.

The other cats didn’t pay much attention to him until he got a little bigger and learned that an unexpected jumping and pouncing on them got their attention. They would wrestle with him, but realizing his size, were pretty gentle with him. He has always had a mischievous and curiosity streak to check things out. Loves to be played with the cat toys we have.
He loves playing with the little brightly colored mice you can find in every pet departments.

Joey would probably be the most likely to adjust to being in a new home quicker than the others. With one exception,- he would be terrified of dogs, so that would not be a good combination, but he could hold his own with other cats after they got familiar with each other. He has a very peculiar body positions when he is sleeping. He will lay flat on his back with his legs posed straight up in the air or his body will be in a twisted position with his head back to his tush.

Like the other cats, Joey has been neutered and declawed. He is very healthy. Please call 641-684-5764 for more information.
