Moretus, 117 km in diameter, is the prominent crater top of center. Often images are taken more perpendicular to the moon's surface which doesn't show the vertical relief very well. Imaging nearer the limb in the southern highlands of the moon helps show the high degree of roughness of the surface due to multiple overlapping craters. The moon is literally a palimpsest that records the long history of bombardment in overlapping layers.
