Goderich was hit by an F3 tornado on August 21st, 2011.
This is our favorite town on the Huron coast and we visit it often. With the exception of the sturdy courthouse, the historic square was devastated.
We returned to the city and took these photos on Saturday, September 4, 2011. The downtown core felt like a ghost town. The rest of the city looks like it lost its top with all the roofs ripped off and most of stately trees knocked over. It is really a heartbreaking scene.
Our thoughts go out to the wonderful residents of Goderich and wish the town a speedy recovery. We will be back next summer!
