The bartender in Mary's Bar was born and raised in Cerillos and was and interesting gent to talk to. He told us that the town was one of the earliest mining towns in the country and his great great grandfather had come to town to work in the mines.
He is the son-in-law of the owner, Mary, who is in her late 80's and is a pack rat. The place has two pool tables piled high with boxes of stuff that she will not git rid of, the jukebox hasn't worked in years and is also piled high with boxes. There was quite a collection of old Budwieser bar lamps, some still worked even.
But the beer was cold, the service was great and the conversation informative.
