Festive Tiger Beetle
Cicindela scutellaris is one of North America's most variable tiger beetle species. As a result numerous subspecific names have been proposed. In New England there are two color morphs that interbreed: a metallic green or blue form (termed subspecies rugifrons) and a bronze, purplish or greenish bronze form (termed subspecies lecontei).
