learn the basics of the digital photography darkroom and the skills needed to navigate and use Adobe Photoshop. Students will explore Photoshop layers and the software tools best suited to the photographer. You will learn to import, manage and protect your digital pictures using the Photoshop Browser and your system finder. The course will cover basic image improvements using layers to correct exposure, contrast, eliminate unwanted color casts and improve color as well as tools to correct blemishes such as dust, noise and image flaws. You will learn to correct geometric distortion in architectural subjects and use layers, gradients and fill layers to improve overexposed areas of your photograph.

It is not requiered to bring laptop computer to class. Instructions will be given using a projector connected to the instructor's laptop computer. But it is highly recomended to bring a pen and a notepad to take notes from class.

Using adjustment layers, blend modes and layer masks this class will explore
ways to work both globally and locally on an image without the need for
complicated selections and masking techniques. Students will learn to correct area-specific exposure problems, manipulate areas, selection and layer techniques for color control and artistic enhancement, color replacement and hue control, and techniques to restore old or damaged images.

Class size limited to 10 students.


This class will meet on Mondays for six three hour sections, from 7PM to 10PM.
