Dead Sea Highway

The Dead Sea Highway, one of the 3 major North-South routes in Jordan, passes along the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea, which lies over 400m/1300ft below Sea Level. The water level has been descreasing at about a meter a year as Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian Territories reroute fresh water before it runs into the already highly salinated Dead Sea. The Dead Sea Valley is part of the Great Rift Valley system running deep into East Africa.
