I shoot most all of my osprey shots hand held from a boat. I use a 200mm lens and get as close as I can to the action. Try and keep ISO at or below 400 and shutter speed in the range of 1/2000 at f/8 if light permits. Find a tripod provides more problems with camera shake on a moving boat than hand holding.
