East of the Ko'olau Gap is Ko'olau Forest Reserve, Hanawi NAR and the Hana Forest Reserve. Hanawi NAR is somewhere under the clouds. In the distance are the primary study site for Maui Parrotbills, and the former homes of the extinct po'ouli and nukupu'u. Magical places like Frisbee Meadow (link: http://www.hear.org/starr/images/full/starr-090204-2300.jpg ) and the greensword bogs are out there somewhere in the distance.
