Sedges are highly visible in native forests. Carex-like sedges grow in abundantly in native forests and native bogs. 'Uki is a common, thick-bladed sedge that can grow to shrub-like stature, and often competes with 'uluhe in thickly covering recent lava fields at some elevations.
