I heard the juvenile first, begging with a relentless "shhheep!". The adults soon chimed in. The father gave the usual 'akiapola'au "turbo warble". The mother responded with a very slow variation on the simple three-note call that I've never heard before. Each only used these vocalizations, with only small adjustments. The mother is the first banded bird I've ever seen on the Saddle. The parents left the juvenile by itself for quite a while, but eventually returned.
I've sighted the banded bird at least 3 times in 2009 without much effort, in the company of one or two others, most recently 12/11/09 with a large and loudly begging juvenile. (same one?)
The female has been seen with a banded male on other occasions.
