Pelican Nebula

The "Pelican Nebula" (IC 5070) is actually part of the
same cloud of hydrogen in which the North America Nebula
is found (for a wide view that includes both objects, see
the "Film" gallery). Despite its common name, it has always
looked more like a pterodactyl to me.

Image data:
Camera: DSI-Pro, hydrogen-alpha filter (false color)
Exposure: 150 seconds x 40
Telescope: William Optics 66mm

other sizes: small medium original auto
