M 3

M 3 is one the the largest and brightest of the globular clusters.
It is 33,900 light years from earth, and 180 light years in diameter,
containing 500,000 stars. M 3 is located in the constellation Canes
Venatici. On the left side of this image you can see a much more distant
spiral galaxy, NGC 5263.
