IC 1848

This emission nebula has several small star clusters embedded within
its glowing interstellar gas. It lies 7500 light years away in the
constellation Cassiopeia.

This object has a number of popular names. To some, it is known as the
"sole" nebula because its shape resembles the sole of a shoe. But rather
confusingly, it is also called the "soul" nebula, forming a pair with the
nearby "heart nebula", IC 1805. It is also known as the "embryo nebula" or
the "fetus nebula".
