This was taken last June on a short hike. Note the white blaze on the slate to the right of center.
In answer to Dick's question below, which I thinks he wishes me to share with you, the white blaze marks the route of the AT, or Appalachian Trail, the longest continuously marked foot trail in the world. It runs from Mount Springer in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine and no intersecting trail may use white for a blaze. I hiked parts of it every year for over 23 years.
