Many oaks and a few others are still holding some of their leaves although they are now golds and russets. They will fall in the next few days. The beeches, like the one in this photo, will hold on to a good numbers of theirs until next spring. If you see a deciduous tree in January with graceful branches of sparse golden brown leaves, chances are it's a beech.
