Huge marbles like this one here are what put Troy on the early map as one of the best glass and marble artists in the world. We've seen SO much in the past 10 years, but when Troy created this marble back in 2004, it was years ahead of its time and set a new standard for marble tightness and color. At this time, we had never seen a fumed implosion as remotely controlled and huge as this, and it was mind blowing, and still is 10 years later! So perfect and beautiful. But Troy was also pushing boundaries with his pinwheeling, using these fantastic colors and creating these tight, controlled, lined up patterns on the backside that were so far beyond what everybody else was doing. He and guys like Mike Gong pushed each other to go further with what they were doing at the time. And then those colors - I think the camera was sort of able to capture how opalescent that creamy color is. It's mesmerizing in hand, and I've seen few colors over the years on a marble that looked like this. I'm thinking the color must be extinct, because we just don't see it any more.
