"Latticane-O Fly" Size: 0.53"/1.83" Price: SOLD

Here is what Ro had to say about these Latticane-O's when he released them. I'll just let him tell you all about them: "I'm announcing the rollout of something I've been working on for about eight months. The only product you will ever need! The "Latticane-O Cube"!!!!! The Cube [or cubelike, actually] is just under and over 5/8" square [rectangular]. The stand and cube [usually pretty square, really] are over 2" to 2 1/4" tall but vary a bit due to method of manufacture. This is all done by hand [mine actually] and dimensions vary according to the effects of a very complicated and not always fun process. You can also expect occasional bubbles in the stands, and maybe small holes through the murrini cubes [due to air trapped when covering the white silhouette with clear glass, pressure drop, partial vacuum, gravity surges, and a visit from your favorite aunt]. If any of these conditions worry you please seek assistance. I personally perform every step of the process and make sure whatever I send out is within my standards. If you have different standards please let me know. This is a grand experiment to see if this amount of effort is worth it. The rest of the story: People have been telling me forever that I should sell what some folks call "Milli's". I didn't want to sell "Milli's"................... but I started thinking about it. What form would the concept need to come to for me to be interested? Rather than 'selling a chip of cane' I decided I needed to somehow elevate the chip to what it really is: A singular piece of art! What does a singular piece of art need? Right!!! A pedestal!!! Or a 'Viewing Stand' as it were. I had to complete the whole package to make it work. Some of my favorite murrini are the white silhouettes surrounded by clear. One good thing about them is that people can SEE how the image runs through the cane when looking through the clear glass [this helps when you are trying to explain the whole 'murrini thing' to your uncle Fudd]. Then I thought "Why be chintzy? a mere 'chip' isn't enough! Anyone can do that!! Give them something substantial! Something different! A whole cube!". [Imagine my horror/relief when I heard there is already a "Cube Community"?]. The stand took more time to figure out and tool up for than is imaginable but I love the process. The mold for the stand is cast iron, and I got to use many 100 year old tools to make it. Unfortunately each stand requires a lot of cutting and grinding with diamond tools after it is molded. The back of the stand is painted to match the murrini displayed. When viewed from the front at the correct angle the clear part of the cube becomes colored around the silhouette. The color also plays on the Art Deco {DecRo] 'Waterfall" ribs in front and the "frosted" sides as you move from side to side."
