"Sakurakaneyo" Size: 2.30" Price: SOLD

This marble hits Glass ORBits at the perfect time, just as the Japanese are celebrating 'sakura' or cherry blossoms in Japan, which typically arrive there in late March/early April. This marble is a celebration of sakura at night, and as Masa said to me, "it expresses the fragility and dreams". This is literally one of the most beautiful marbles I have ever laid eyes on, and it is far, far better in hand than I was able to capture with my pictures, which are rather poor representations of its beauty. The colors are more vivid in reality, and the various colors of silver leaf which Masa used are striking. This is the first time I've seen Masa deploy his silver leaf tech in a way which gives us two-toned, sort of mottled colors in various places on the marble, adding depth and character to the design. It is REALLY amazing!! Masa carved soooo much Japanese culture and symbolism into this one marble, and it is truly breathtaking to behold, a masterful creation to say the least. To be able to meld the different cherry trees and blossoms and the boat on the river and the geisha all together into one flowing pattern is hard to even fathom. It is amazing to spin this marble around and around in hand and the flow of it literally NEVER ENDS. It is seamless beauty, a pure representation of everything that I love so much about Japan and their wonderful culture.

This is the very first marble in this sakura series, so a historical piece to say the least. I will have one of these in my collection soon, trust me, ha ha, but Masa and I wanted to let the collecting public have a shot at adding this magnificent gem to their collection. Act fast, it won't last long.... Since these marbles cannot be signed traditionally, Masa has stamped the wooden box it comes in with his name and the date of '2016.03'.
