Yoshinori Kondo, Rose Roads and Daisuke Saito: "Team Japan #2" Size: 2.47" Price: SOLD

Five of these astounding triple collabs were made by Team Japan for the marble exhibition at the Thank You Expo in Toronto in May of 2013. Team Japan also competed in the flameoff and won that event, and they wanted to bring some special pieces to the show to commemorate their time there. And special pieces they were, 5 of the best marbles the world had ever seen to that point in time. Yoshi took sections from both Junichi Kojima (Rose Roads) and Daisuke and then combined them into large marbles with his incredible dotwork surrounding those sections. Truly mind-boggling glass art at is very finest with awe-inspiring detail! These are EXTREMELY limited edition marbles, and Yoshi said there will only be more made if Team Japan is reunited again for an event in the future.

This is the 2nd of the 5 marbles that Yoshi put together, and this is the only one that features an UNBELIEVABLE Grateful Dead themed disc! Dancing Bears, smiley face and peace sign, moon and stars - what Junichi did with that design, that pattern is utterly astounding. The number of dots of glass involved...all perfectly arranged...all so controlled....it defies comprehension. And YET, that is only one part of this amazing marble! Flip it over and you've got one of Yoshi's dot stack cups enveloping Daisuke's twisted fumed section, with a huge glorious opal behind it. The REALLY awesome thing about that cup is how it is suspended inside there, and when you study the marble and peer inside of it, you'll see that the back of that cup is a full blown black and white dot stack design! I also love how the edges of it come to points like that. That whole section is just AWESOME, a full blown amazing marble, contained within an even MORE amazing marble! Then you've got Yoshi's brilliant dot stocking/masking pattern all around the equator, glass control at its finest. And I looooove how you can study the magnified backside of Jun's Grateful Dead section by looking through the marble. This marble is just a COMPLETE work of art, start to finish, from three of the world's greatest glass artists, all rolled into one.

These Team Japan marbles are, quite simply, THE BEST marbles that have ever been created, BY FAR. Nothing preceding these even comes close, and it's hard to imagine what they could ever do for an encore. These are suitable for any glass museum in the world, suitable for any palace in the world, to be marveled at by kings and queens. If you are able, if you have the means - this is the glass that you want to have in the centerpiece of your collection. It won't get any better than this, not for quite a while anyway. Prepare to have your mind melted if you get to see these in hand!
