Finally made a trip to High Island, a famous spot on the upper Texas coast for migratory bird fallouts that occur during the spring migratory season when the birds encounter a heavy north wind. Being on relatively high ground with the only stand of significant trees for many miles around on the coastal plain it is a natural resting spot. It also has a large Egret and Roseate Spoonbill rookery which is truly an awesome sight. All photos taken with Canon D60 with Canon 300 F2.8L IS lens with 2X teleconverter.
splendid photos--03-21-04 I went to high island but found the rookery just after sunset & missed the light. Your photos capture the wonderful scene & the beauty of new life for the birds. We are lucky to have these beauties. Wish we could create more living environments in Houston for birds. Wetland habitat & drainage could be arranged together I think & wish we had more of. Thank you for your photos--a nice gift.
