It was a nice sunny day in the mid 60's 60 miles north of Houston Texas, so I decided to try some new ground in the Sam Houston National Forest located a couple of miles north from where I live. Its amazing I have lived here almost six years, but have never before ventured into this 165,000 acre national forest almost on my back door step.

Though the majority of the pictures were taken from extreme distances (extremely cropped) and the robin is the only picture really at all close to a keeper, this was a good day of several first for me. These were the first pictures I have taken in the wild of a robin, pelican, or eagle. They can all bet I will be back for another round.
