I find myself the guardian and custodian of our family's heritage (gulp!). Every time I go up to Edinburgh, I come home with a car-load of family stuff, and although it's 22 years since our dad died and we sold the
family house in Edinburgh, it's only now that we (me and my two brothers) have actually got round to going through the boxes and boxes of old photos, letters, correspondence and goodness knows what else.
Our dad was an architect and archaeologist and made drawings of everywhere he visited, both official visits and busman holidays - the above is a shot of just some of over
20 sketch books he had, the ones here are from family holidays to France in the 70s, needless to say those holidays revolved around the beautiful Romanesque and Gothic
churches and cathedrals found throughout the country and of which he had an extraordinary love and appreciation.
