Summer 1985 (c) Doug Cruden

St. Rules Tower

St. Andrews, Fife

Inspired by tinkerb's shot (see below) I dug out this old film scan which I took I guess in summer 1985...comparing the two images, it looks like not much has changed in 26 years, even the colour of the St Andrews sky :o))

Chris's shot:

Practika MTL3, Sun 80-200 f4.5 zoom and Agfachrome slide film full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Incredible likeness in colour and composition - even the clouds look similar. Amazing after all these years you remember you took it. I think its about time for a revisit!

Great comparison, shot from exactly the same angle and with the same sky.

It looks the perfect setting for a ghost story... and those skies are scarily similar!

Well done, I'll have to have a hunt through my old St Andrews pics now!

I actually prefer the colors in the film image and the sharpness of the digital photo. How does one combine the two? Great shot Doug, of this Italianate looking tower.

Great comparison shots but I've noticed that the clouds have moved ever so slightly over those 20+ years.
