3rd - Rainbow Clouds

near Winchcombe, Glos.

What a super display above the stables this evening, the hot air balloon looks like it's about to be zapped into a time vortex-warpy thing - can't put my finger on the proper name for this cloud/rainbow phenomenon but I want to associate the word 'dog' with it....Phil???

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Fascinating - with balloon for scale and foreground interest.

The sky is beautiful and the air balloon completes a marvelous image. Is it gong into or coming out of the 'Twilight Zone'. :) V

Amazing shot! Don't think I've every spotted one but I'll be watching out from now on.

Cool capture of the sundog, the balloon really tops it so well, giving in that "Hipgnosis" look. Don't think they can occur here though.

Saw it here too today. No clue.

It would have been a super shot without the ballon - with it absolutely caps it - excellent BV

Extraordinary image of this sundog. Very intense and colourful, like a painting! V

Yep, JJ's right - a sun-dog, or parhelion. Should be one on t'other side of the sun too, if there's more cirrus there. They're always good for a fotie - and with a bloon to set them off, even better!

Wow. I've never seen one that intense.

That'll be a sun dog then.
