28th - Not For The Feint Hearted

Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Death Valley, California

Blimey...Death Valley is well-named, it was certainly hot today! We stopped at Furnace Creek Visitor Centre to check out the history of the Valley, and saw a bit of weather info - yesterday was 48C/119F, today was expected to be 47C/118F...mind you, once you get beyond 37.7C/100F it's all a bit academic it seems to me; I was only able to be outside the car for about ten minutes, just enough time to grab a few shots

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Shallow DOF and brightness really brings out the heat and haze.
Great work Doug. Keep them comming.

This is an awesome view, perfect that you chose dead wood to anchor the foreground. I'll go with Cindi, at least it isn't humid. Come to Houston, I'll give you 100+ temp and 90% humidity. You can make tea using the air! LOL Big vote for this photo!!

At least it's dry heat Doug. Yes, there's no place like Death Valley in the summer. :)

It was windy when we went so when you got out of the car it was like someone had turned a giant hairdryer on - set to xtra heat!
Phillip Normanton29-Jul-2010 07:15
Ah, the standard holibob stick-on-the-beach shot - just add sea! That'd have cooled it down a bit too I expect :o)
Hope you remembered your 'at :o)

Oh, we get 100 degree weather every summer here. Yes, that's hot but at least it isn't humid there. A wonderful image! Very nice work!
