6th - Stoney Face

Eastleach Martin, Glos. view map

A bit overcast today, not the best weather for outdoorsy pics, so I nipped to my favourite Gloucestershire village(s), the Eastleaches, one one each side of the River Leach and each with its own lovely little church, facing the other across the river

This is from the interior of the Church of Saints Michael and Martin - a rather grisly visage if I do say so, but quite photogenic in a stoney sort of way. And well worn, too - although the church is Norman in origin, it was largely rebuilt in the 13th century; at a guess therefore, this chap is a mere 800 years young

He has been out in the elements for a long time so he has a reason to be grim! :) Love this!

eyes wide open so he hasn't slept in 800 years...no wonder he seems a bit stressed...fascinating artifact though..V

One wonders what those eyes have seen?

Stoney for sure. A face like that could go a long way in Las Vegas. :)

Very expressive for such a primitive piece of sculpture

Young whipper snapper, my granny would say. She would also say ,Smile , because if the wind changes direction you will stop like that.

He could use a little moisturiser - must be a tough life being a saint :o)
