20th - Blue Bell Knoll

Cheltenham, Glos.

I'm lucky enough to have a my own bluebell patch right outside my door - the poor things have struggled a bit over the last few weeks, but now that we've got some warm and sunny weather they've really taken off

This was difficult to get right - the evening sun has illuminated the pollen sticking to the anthers while a gentle backlight has made the beautiful petals almost translucent; and luckily there was absolutely no wind this evening! I was able to compose this so that the plane of focus was limited to the stamen & anthers and small areas of the petals while everything else was rendered nicely OoF

Very nice focus work and beautiful colors in this well composed shot. These images are difficult to get with the ultra-narrow depth of field, but the results are very rewarding. "V"

This is a stunning shot!! Colour, comp, light, detail, all wonderfully done. There is nothing like a bluebell! I miss them as they don't grow here. VOTE
