3rd - Stand By

Cheltenham, Glos.

Bizarre...there I was, crouching down on me hunkers, focusing on m'boy's Xbox box-thingy as the last of the afternoon light came in the window and did its best to brighten up the room. So far so good, but when I chimped the shots, they've all got this strong blue cast. I checked the WB, which was set to Auto so nothing amiss there...but then I reckoned that the pale light must be registering as 'cold' to the camera, hence the blueness...is that a correct assumption?

Anyhoo, this is totally natural, I haven't tweaked the colours at all. Only post work was a bit of a tidy up to take out a couple of spots of dust...and that's it!

other sizes: small medium large original auto

White balance, low light and vibrant colors are the devils soup. Never really knows what comes out in the end, though I do like the alien look of this image, and the message is, uhm er, very positive when you think about it. ;-)

I wonder if the LED light in the box tricked into tungsten type settings, great result anyway

Very iconic, when you look there's also yellow orange etc, strangely satisfying to look at.

Mmmm looks cool, in every way!
Auto white balance is a mystery to me, but it does seem to work most of the time when I use it. I wonder if it picked up the green light and that threw it - if it was strobing it might've been tricked into thinking the light source was artificial so went towards tungsten... or it might be as simple as the green being a lot brighter than the sunlight... or sumfink :o) Hmmm - then again, I suspect green light would push the natural towards magenta rather than blue... I give up! lol

I agree the green and blue go together so well.

It makes a very attractive colour combination.
