1st - Micro-circuitry

Cheltenham, Glos.

I've always been fascinated by electronics and physics - I was pants at anything technical at school, but secretly admired those who just got maths and sums and intangible things like electricity and the laws of physics. And in this modern world, we rely so much on the little things like the printed circuit board to do stuff for us. PCBs are ubiquitous; they are in hair-driers, watches, cameras, flash guns, phones, PCs, GPS, thermostats, washing machines...the list is endless, and they are quite literally everywhere

Hurrah for the PCB :o)

Great shallow DOF!

Mmmhhhh...maybe DPLL (Digital PLL)...here. But great photo anyway! Bravo, vote.
Ciao,
Paolo

At my age I could use some of that micro-circuitry to keep going. :) A fine macro with excellent use of depth of field.

Reverent image of the circuit board. V

Wow, this is a short DOF. The light going across the frame is wonderful!
Ronald Bijtenhoorn02-Feb-2010 11:10
Good Macro; like the shallow DOF and the green color
borisalex02-Feb-2010 06:10
Great shot and so good DOF, Interesting as always!!

I like the really shallow DOF on this, I was trying to shoot one super sharp the other day with focus stacking and it was a darn nuisance.

It's great to have it all reduced to an image, where we can understand it in terms of light and form and composition. A good way of getting control of things. Very well done.

Its all about chasing electrons, when they run off the board you need little Bins to catch all the ones and zero's
Kathryn01-Feb-2010 22:34
Thought is was chocolate at first, very masculine shot.
J. Scott Coile01-Feb-2010 22:01
They are EVERYWHERE!!!
Barbara Heide01-Feb-2010 21:53
interesting shot... could be action, btw...lol!
Walter Otto Koenig01-Feb-2010 21:49
Great macro shot of this complex circuitry. Nice sharp details and great focus on this. Good job with the lighting too.
Mairéad01-Feb-2010 21:45
Definitely man stuff but a very good macro.
McGarva01-Feb-2010 21:16
Superb Macro Doug! ... love the blurb as I was one of those guys that followed a techy route
Stephanie01-Feb-2010 21:00
Don't really understand this micro-circuitry stuff - guess it's a guy thing.
BUT - your shot is great Doug! Nice & sharp where it should be with great DOF!
Phillip Normanton01-Feb-2010 20:38
Ahhh - blue pens, ferric chloride, brown fingers and a strange, unhealthy smell! Such memories :o)

Little bits of magic!
