the east indiaman gotheborg ship started its journey from stockholm, sweden on october 2nd 2005 to canton, china. on the way to its final destination, the ship went for several transit stops at vigo, cadiz, recife, cape town, fremantle, and last stop at jakarta. i was fortunate to be able to see this magnificent ship when they transited in jakarta for 10 days.

the modern version gotheborg ship is a replica of the original gotheborg ship that was built in 1738 but had an unfortunate fate and crashed into a coral reef. the construction of the modern version gotheborg was finished in 2003, equipped with modern version navigation system and facilities, despite that it was built using the same method and materials as its original in the 18th century.
