madura is an island at the northeast of java, indonesia.
though it's soil is not as fertile as in java island, its culture is as rich and unique as its neighbour land.
one of its famous one is karapan sapi, which is cow racing. prime male cows are being raced regularly and the biggest one (which i happen to attend) is the president's cup karapan sapi. held every year around the month of october.
as for the prime female cows they do some kind of beauty contest where all the cows are adorned with headdress and glittering accessories. the contest is named sapi sonok, and it's usually held around the same time as the karapan sapi event.
