Winter birding trip to the Guadalupe Mountains in Culberson County, Dell City including its environs (E: Williams Rd.) in Hudspeth County, the Davis Mountains in Jeff Davis County, and Balmorhea Lake in Reeves County on December 10-15, 2017. The Baird's Sparrow Banding Study at the Dixon Water Treatment Facility Property in Marfa, Presidio County is what inspired the idea for this trip. Before the day we were scheduled to help flush and band Baird’s Sparrows we heard about a Violet-crowned Hummingbird that was discovered in Sanderson County along our route back home. We also stopped in at Warbler Woods in Guadalupe County for the Golden-crowned Sparrow on our way home.
