Photographs from a birding trip to Sax-Zim Bog, Canal Park in Duluth, Lake County (Highway 2) and Environs from January 20-23, 2017. I went with Janet Rathjen and we were guided by local John Richardson. Our main targets for this trip were American Black-Duck, Spruce Grouse, Ruffed Grouse, Sharp-tailed Grouse, Great Gray Owl, Common and Hoary Redpolls, and White-winged Crossbill as we had missed those on our previous trip in 2014. We got all of them except for the Hoary Redpoll and we were not able to obtain photographs of the White-winged Crossbills as we only observed them as flyovers and the Black-Ducks were to distant. A bonus bird for us was a Golden-crowned Sparrow that was reported at a private residence in Duluth.
