The Lake Creek Watershed

Lake Creek runs through one of the basalt coulees created by ice-age floods in eastern Washington. The plant community supported by the thin soils found on these sites is called sage steppe. Lake Creek feeds Twin Lakes and Coffeepot Lake. The lakes and much of the land around them are owned by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and allows the public to explore this magnificent habitat and the diverse insect and animal life supported there.
