i studied in hawasa unvirisity.i remember everything i saw,it is difficult to difine it,but i want to say one thing i don't see any place as unforgatable as it.if i get the chance i will come to see again.

hey my name is abe i visited awssa awhile ago and i styed there for about four years and i really liked every moment of it.I live in bringeport ,ct in U.S.A know.so one day i was just surfin the enternet and i just went to google to look up shashemene and lake awssa so i came thru this galleries of pictures.I really miss lake awssa I would like to go back sometime and the beatiful woman.

I just returned from my first ever visit to the marvelous country of Ethiopia. I had the chance to be in Awassa for about 4 days and it was such a marvelous experience compared to the heavy traffic and crowded areas of a.a., which i enjoyed nevertheless. Thanks to the tree lined and well planned clean roads of Awassa where i could bike around without the fear of anyone invading my privacy and right to travel, which also lead me to the Tabor mountain where i had a bird's eye view of Awassa from all directions. I enjoyed the visit to lake Awassa, however this place needs a lots of attentions of tourism authorities and especiall concerned Awassans to provide uptodate touristic and other facilities around the lake area. strict rules must be applied to protect the clean waters of the lake from any kind of contamination due to bathing and cleanin fish and throwing fish waste back into the waters. Awassa is a great peaceful city with a bright future due to the expansion of the educational facilities, and hotel and restaurant business, and not to forget its administrative importance in the southern region!! I enjoyed tasting the freshly cooked Tilapia at the lake side as well as that was served in decent restaurants in the city as well. Am eagerly lookin forward to make frens from all over Ethiopia the northern regions which i wish to visit during my next longterm visit to Et which is very soon, and especially Awassans who can be of great help to share views and opinions and also assist me during my next visit too.
I would also like to advise tourists heading to Awassa and other prominent touristic places in the northern to avail the SKY BUS facility which originates at Friendship Building, 4th floor, Bole Road, A.A., which started just few months ago. I could not avail this service myself due to the fact i came to know this service just 5 days before my departutre from a.a. Nevertheless i met a competent technical head of Sky bus who took time to brief me about the serivices of his company which plans 30 brand new buses very shortly (these buses are under production in China , where he visited thrice to supervise the process he said). However, every foreign tourist must gather the necessary travelling information in advance by oneself as it is impossible to find a touristic map of Et in the govt. tourist offices or big book shops such as Mega and Book world all over a.a. Many ethiopians do not have the necessary travel information at hand that will be helpful to newcomers as few of them seriously travel around this marvelous country. Et has great touristic and commercial potential given its vast lakes of water and rivers flowing across the country. the land is so flat and suitable for agribusiness of global scale too. Oh yes, the weather around a.a., and many regions is cool and pleasant at around 27C with year round sunshine. I must say i never saw or used a fan in the buildings and cafes and the places i lived and visited......believe me!! It would be very rude if i didnt mention the warm and friendly nature of every Ethiopian that i came across all over this beautiful country. The moment i landed at Bole airport ethiopians began to converse in Amharic firstly and then English due to my resemblance to a Habesha (national)!! I also travellled the local long distance buses to experience the local life, which are a bit slow and stop at many checkpoints, restaurants and to pick-up passengers thru the journey.
Ethiopia will see great prosperity due to the completion of Mega electricity projects starting from coming July and for many years to come.
Et is also blessed with many natural resources and human talent amongst the diaspora.

Let me tell you the fundation of Hawassa.....
The main cause for the foundation of Hawassa town is the natural beauty of Lake Hawassa and the area around. The name of the lake “Hawassa” means “big” in Sidamigna language. In earlier times the place was not inhabited by many people, but pastoralists used to graze their cattle around the lake.Hawassa town has got its name from the name of “Lake Hawassa”. Before the establishment of the town the land along the edge of the lake was named “Ada’are” which means “a field of cattle” in Sidamigna language. The existence of water through out the year and the availability of grass for grazing the cattle gradually attracted the highlanders to visit the area constantly and at the same time people from different area begun to settle in the area....
