The Bishop Museum in Honolulu presented a program with the Japanese American National Museum about the textiles used/created by the Japanese first generation picture brides. Taiko drummers often appear at Japanese festivals in Hawaii and this group was very good. We arrived late and I didn't catch their name and it wasn't in the program distributed. The exhibits featured a video on an expert on textiles of that era, Mrs. Kawakami, age 90, that was very well done.
