Dog Strollers

Dog strollers are one of the greatest inventions since the creation of the dog leash. I can barely describe to you just how extremely useful I find my dog strollers that I use almost every day. (I have 9 or 10 of them in a bunch of different models and I am now selling some of the ones that I don't use much any more. E-mail me if you want a good deal on a used dog stroller.)

The Toronto Star recently featured an article about dog strollers:

I thought I would share with you a bit of my experience with them because I think a few of you will find them much more handy than you might think. I use one of my several different models of dog strollers almost every day to carry my puppies and/or adult dogs safely around everywhere in downtown Toronto.

Dog strollers allow you to safely guide one or more dogs through dangerous downtown Toronto traffic and past thick crowds of people who could easily step on a tiny dog. Then, when you get to a park far away from cars you can let your dog(s) out to safely run in the park. (I roll my stroller right into the subway and go to many different parks ALL over Toronto and spend an average of about 6 hours a day out in the park with my dogs.)

A dog stroller will also keep your tiny puppies safe from big dogs and prevent them from being jumped on, and will keep your small dogs warm in the winter - insulated and snuggling in among several warm blankets, and they can help keep your dog(s) cool in the summer - just putting a wet towel under the dogs does wonders for cooling them, and the stroller can keep the hot sun off them and give them shade.

A dog stroller can provide a safe quiet place for young puppies (or old dogs) to rest and sleep while the teenage dogs are burning off all their excess energy running around in the park.

And with your dog(s) tucked safely out of sight you can take your stroller into MANY places that you could not normally take a dog - like almost anywhere - shopping malls, offices, etc.

And some of the larger sturdy strollers have storage space for lots of groceries and all those things you might want to take along with you when you go out for the day with your "kids." (You would be amazed if I list all the stuff I can tie onto or put in the pocket under my dog stroller. Hard to believe, but I often carry 50 pounds of "expedition equipment" with me when I go out to the park with the dogs - and that doesn't include the 30 or 40 pounds of groceries I can also tie to the frame as I travel home at the end of a long day out in the sun.)

(Clicking on the sixth photo will bring up a sub-gallery that will show you how I USED to take my puppies around (not nearly as convenient as using a dog stroller).)
