Downingtown resident Adrian Martinez completed these two paintings in 2014. Mr. Martinez is an internationally known professional artist whose work combines a rigorously classical technique with an intensely emotional vision.

The first painting, “The Sacrifice of Abraham and Isaac”, was a gift to the parish from Mr. Martinez. Our church commissioned the second painting, “The Visitation”. They are permanent additions to our beautiful new church from one of Downingtown’s most renowned citizens.

The Sacrifice of Abraham and Isaac is one of the darker stories in the Old Testament, the Visitation of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth is one of the most joyful. These two paintings like the stories they depict are greatly contrasting but not conflicting.
